How you use money can lead to divorce

Have you ever heard someone say that money causes divorce? What they probably mean is that a couple who has financial trouble is more likely to split up. That financial trouble causes stress, stress erodes the relationship, and it eventually ends.

Furthermore, what they're often really talking about is just a fundamental difference in the way that both people manage their money. It's that difference that drives a wedge into their personal relationship.

For example, imagine that you grew up saving all of the money you could. You never wanted to spend it. Now, as an adult, you know how hard it is to obtain and how important it is. You always look for deals, you never make impulsive purchases, and you look to save or invest whenever you can.

Your new spouse, though, just loves to spend money. They like to buy things they don't need. It's a fun pastime for them, something they do when they're bored. They don't care about saving and do not see the point in it.

When you were dating, it didn't matter. That was their money. Now that you're married and you share your money, though, you constantly fight over what to do with it. Your spouse berates you for the way you refuse to spend or "have fun," and you constantly feel stress as you watch him or her "waste" the money that you have worked so hard for.

It's not difficult to imagine how these different views on money can make you wish you never got married, and you need to know what steps to take if you opt to get divorced.
