One celebrity family feud seems to go on forever over the financial support of their two children. Pop star Britney Spears has made a multi-million-dollar comeback, and her ex-husband feels he is entitled to a piece of the pie. In Maryland and other states, negotiations for more child support become intense between celebrities when one ex signs a new deal for big money.
Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is asking for more money, claiming it is impossible for him to find work to support his family. He is now re-married with two additional children. The pop star has recently made an astounding comeback in Las Vegas and is currently touring nationally, all of which will enable her to rake in millions.
The former backup dancer claims he lives near poverty on the $20,000 per month paid to him by Spears. He says that their two sons live a lavish lifestyle with their mom even though she pays for all extras for the boys. He was reportedly offered an additional $10k each month by Jamie Spears, the pop star’s business and financial manager, as well as her father. Federline allegedly refused the offer because he believes he deserves much more based on the singer’s new-found fame.
While it may seem excessive to ask for additional child support, ex-spouses have the right to request increases. The courts will consider many factors before granting an increase in child support, and if so, they will determine how much the ex-spouse is entitled to receive. Those in Maryland who are seeking an increase in support have the right to representation from an attorney who will advocate not only them but for the best interest of the children as well.
